[BIOGRAPHY]
Don Calloway

Before launching Pine Street Advisors, Don had a successful career in corporate America, including time in the C-suite at a leading renewable energy company, where he built and led a pioneering business unit focused on environmental justice, stakeholder value creation, and equity in energy, agriculture, and commodities trading. He began his corporate journey at Anheuser-Busch, one of the world’s largest consumer product companies, and later served as a state legislator and a business litigation attorney.
Don is also a general partner at Darrell Calloway Impact Investors, a venture capital fund investing in early-stage companies focused on health equity, municipal infrastructure, and financial services.
Pine Street Advisors evolved from Pine Street Strategies, a firm Don founded in 2016 specializing in congressional advocacy and political campaigns. Over five years, he built Pine Street into one of Washington’s most influential lobbying firms, advising corporate, nonprofit, and political clients on legislative, regulatory, and political landscapes. In 2021, Don exited the firm to expand his focus on broader corporate advisory work.
Earlier in his career, Don played a pivotal role at Anheuser-Busch InBev, leading the company’s federal congressional and regulatory affairs group. He managed the congressional, regulatory, and public affairs aspects of the company’s 2016 merger with SABMiller, then the largest merger transaction in world history. Before that, he led Anheuser-Busch’s corporate agenda across 10 states, focusing on corporate tax reform, manufacturing, labor and employment, and political affairs.
Prior to his corporate career, Don served as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing 50,000 residents in St. Louis County. During this time, he was also a senior associate at Thompson Coburn LLP, where he worked on complex business litigation, assisting in defense verdicts for corporate clients in products liability, medical malpractice, and commercial disputes.
In 2018, Don founded the National Voter Protection Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to fighting voter suppression and expanding ballot access, particularly in states with a history of restrictive voting policies. The organization continues to support voter protection efforts in federal and state elections and has contributed to equitable election policy legislation in several states.
Don regularly advises elected leaders in the White House, U.S. Congress, and state governments, as well as senior officials worldwide. He also maintains an active law practice, providing pro bono representation to indigent clients in civil matters and institutional clients in civil rights cases.
A proud second-generation graduate of Alabama A&M University, an 1890 Land Grant Institution, Don served as President of the Student Government Association and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He also holds a law degree from Boston University School of Law.
Don is a frequent contributor to multiple media outlets, including MSNBC, CNN, and The Washington Post.
